Working in the base layers of shadow and analysing the proportions of the facial structure through charcoal renderings.
Day two of the artwork includes building up darker tones through layering charcoal. The removing of the charcoal is just as important as the adding.
As an Artist, Romy's focus is portraiture with elements of the natural environment embedded throughout her highly detailed works. She is inspired by the realism and hyper-realism art movements.
Romy is a current Doctoral student at the University of Southern Queensland and is interested in Portrait Methodology, Education & The Arts and Practice-Led Research Methods.
Romy has had over a decade of teaching experience in regional schools in Southeast Queensland, Australia. She has had experiences in early primary, upper primary and in the past has completed contract work as a principal.
